An Introduction to Africa
There are 53 countries and 74 rivers in Africa, each with something different and unique about them.
African Traditions
Africa is known for many traditions. One big tradition storytelling, Storytelling is very important, although it lost it culture. Back then musical folk tales, folk tales, legends, and myths were all told for storytelling. No ancient writings exist on the continent of Africa today, but many Africans are oral tellers, so at least we have some history.
Storytelling also bring us to religion. I say that because some of the stories told were about different Gods. Christianity is large religion in Africa. Many Africans believe in one “major” God, they believe in spirits, healers and say that priest talk to that one “major” God. Muslim is also a small part of African religion, but not as big as Christianity
Games were also very popular back then in certain places. In Toen Younin, Ghana they played a game where someone has to hit a mound with stalks on it, a stretch away. Another game played in Ghana was when a “guard” must stand in front of a hole and guard it while the other person is trying to get the ball into the hole by throwing it. The “guard” uses a stick to block. Those seem very like very interesting game to play, and are very different from what we do out here in America.
